Special Notices

1) SERVANTS PROJECT - Joyce Botelho requests that anyone who has immediate knowledge of Irish individuals who have worked in the Newport Mansions please contact her for oral history interviews for the Museum's Irish Servant historical research project. Joyce can be reached at 849-5592 or irishnewport@verizon.net.

2) Members are encouraged to visit the Fort Adams Visitor Center to see the newly updated Museum display cases. Member Jack McCormick, who also works at the Fort giving guided tours, contributed a number of items related to the Irish and the construction of the Fort. If you haven't taken a tour of the Fort, you are encouraged to do so. The docents do a fine job and you learn much about the beautiful stone and brickwork done over the 35 years of construction.

The Museum of Newport Irish History is a 501©3 Non-Profit Organization. The membership consists of those who are interested in the history of Irish immigration into Newport County from the 1600’s to the present, and the social and historical contributions that these people have made to the fabric of life here.
